i have revived penrose!
finishing up mitered squares felt so good that i dug around until i found my other long-term project, the penrose afghan (rav link) from the woolly thoughts website.
the pattern is terribly clever - all garter stitch (which you know how i love) and only two shapes, squares and parallelograms. it's knit up in 8 sections, or slices, if you will. i now have 2 slices done, so i'm a quarter of the way there!
the yarn is from elann.com, it's their peruvian uros aran. it's half wool, half llama and it is super-duper soft and snugly, as the following gratuitous shots of pippin loving up penrose in the sunshine can attest to.
the second slice came together in about a week - it's fun to see the pattern emerging from the puzzle of random shapes. there was really only one thing i could do. cast on for slice number three!
