i must confess i felt something less-than-excitement when lily decided to be tinkerbell for halloween. but i will stand now and admit that i was wrong. indeed worried for nothing - she rocked that tinkerbell costume with her own special lily-flair.
he was born new year's eve last year. ten months later he is beyond adorable- crawling around everywhere and going on endless adventures around brooklyn. now that the weather is getting colder, i thought he'd need some help staying warm,
the yarn is caron simply soft, which, while it may not be the most upscale of yarns, is in fact, super soft. and as a plus it's machine washable (which i figured might be important to a college student. i don't ever remember hand washing a single piece of laundry when i was in college!).
the deadline for submitting scarves this year is december 15th, and if you're not already, i'd encourage you to consider knitting up a red scarf. project details can be found at the red scarf project's official page or in the ravelry group.
imagine my surprise when my mailman brought me a package today from melinda with an alien for lily and i! it was the middle of quiet time so lily took the alien (who she named zeela) and snuggled her with her guinea pigs and finished watching ratatouille.
then we went downstairs to the dollhouse and got down to business:
here's zeela meeting lily doll and red fairy, "greetings earthlings i am zeela from saturn!"
zeela got a ride in the baby stroller,
took a bath with the turtle,
and helped mom bring in the produce from the garden (i should have known that any alien of melinda's would be a gifted gardener!).
we are both smitten with zeela. thank you melinda your generous surprise has made both lily and my day!
it's been a while since i've had a yarn fix. i've been busy and distracted with all sort of other things and haven't had much time to knit lately.
which is why i was so happy to have found a friend in need of a winter hat, and an excuse to get a quick f.o. under my belt so as to satisfy my yarn nostalgia.
the pattern is the infamous unoriginal hat from the yarn harlot. the yarn is the scrumptious berroco sundae. i'd never used it before but have loved every berroco yarn i've touched thus far. this one definitely didn't disappoint.
the pattern is super easy and the extra-chunkiness of the yarn allowed me to literally cast on and finish this hat within the span of a movie.
it was the perfect fix. how have you been getting your yarn fix lately?
p.s. the color scheme is inspired by lindsey, of course.
