those of you who already share my love of springtree road maya's handspun yarns will also share in my excitement at the announcement that she is now dying sock yarn. i was honored when she asked me to test knit a skein and the moment it arrived i was amazed that it was, in fact, even more lovely in person than in her gorgeous photographs.
isn't it lovely? the colorway is called shiraz. maya is a color-genius, you should go check out the other colorways she's created. (but be warned, she's also an amazing photographer, the combination could have you snatching up some sock yarn for your very own before you even know what hit you!!)
the almost-solid colorway is perfect for showing off the textures in this pattern (which, by the way, is hedgerow socks by jane cochran - pattern or rav link) and the yarn is knitting up into squishy socky wonderfulness!
in the spirit of full disclosure i should publicly state that i am a huge fan of maya as a person, a blogger, a photographer, a knitter, a spinner, and a dyer. i am amazed by and proud of her for taking the big step of starting her own business and i whole heartedly hope she finds all the success she so clearly deserves.
that said, i'll give you that link to her yarns one more time so you can go and drool and oooh and ahhh over her amazing work.

I was fine till I clicked that last link... Now I need to go lie down a moment, I think! Gorgeous!

Those are going to be one gorgeous pair of socks! Love the colours of Maya's yarns. Just as well I'm on a yarn diet, since I noticed that she ships internationally! I will be strong!

Oooooh, how gorgeous is that colour. And when I look at it, I realize that I have never knit anything EVER in purple ??!!! How strange that I have never realized this. The colour of this purple though, oh me, oh my...it's incredible. Unlike most purples I have ever seen. It's so dreamy and beautiful. (and how generous of she to gift gift you the yarn)
The socks you are knitting up are beautiful as well Melissa. They remind me of beautiful flowers and everything that screams springtime.

How odd how much this color looks exactly like a pair of socks I have on the needles now! If I weren't hopelessly behind, you'd have seen a picture of it by now!
Yummy yarn! You're bad, because I'm on a yarn diet. But the sock pattern is AWESOME! I have more than enough sock yarn with which to experiment with it. congrats to Maya and I hope she is very successful!

Beautiful yarn...yours and the other colorways Maya is offering! I had to remind myself over and over again as I scrolled through the available sock yarn that I am on a yarn diet for a good reason! I have bookmarked her site and you can be sure that as soon as I'm able, I'll be snatching up a skein!
Nice pattern choice by the way...these will be so beautiful and squishy!

i LOVE that yarn!!!!! really, my heart aches a little to look at it. i also yearn to bury my nose in a skein to take a big whiff. does it smell like grape soda? or red wine? or does it just smell like woolly goodness?
