more roads = more ripples

lots of travels means lots of time for crochet in the car!  woot woot!!

between that and my audiobook it was a very lovely day in the car!

family tree wreath

here's my present for my grandparents:  a family tree wreath.

there's a flower for each member of the family: 2 dark blue for my grandparents, 4 medium blue for their children, 13 light blue for each of their grandkids and 13 tiny dark blue ones the great-grandchildren.

all in blue, my grandmother's favorite color!

a 14 hour drive down to tennessee gives a gal a fair amount of time for crafting.

this trip found me working on a ripple blanket (pattern by lucy of attic24) for bundles of joy.

safe travels (and lots of crafty time) to anyone traveling for the holidays!

these snugglers (aka mug jackets pattern by mk carroll) will be paired with gift cards to my most favorite coffee shop in town and gifted to lily's teachers.

tomorrow's her last day of the semester.  hooray for winter break!

poppies

i am fortunate to count amongst my friends the very talented michelle brusegaard.  i have always loved her red poppies dishtowels and this year decided to incorporate them into my holiday gift-giving plans.

i invented this little matching dishcloth to go along with them.  it is just a simple garter stitch cloth with a crocheted poppy sewn onto it.

here's a couple more dishcloths i've knit up for holiday gifts.

a circle cloth (rav link) to round out the trifecta of solstice cloths,

and an iowa cloth (rav link) for part of a hostess gift for a friend who's a native of my neighbor state to the south.

as i said, you really can't go wrong with dishcloths, or do i just think that because i love knitting them so?

and i can't even blame lily, because she was at school

i made this today... all by myself.  yep, just me and my piles of glitter.

i saw this on pinterest a couple weeks ago and have been wanting to make one, but we've been out of white paint.  soooooo, i channeled my inner glitter-crazed 6 1/2 year old (which i wasn't even aware i had until today) and came up with this sparkly baby:

know what?  glittering is kind of fun.

preparing for the return

i will fully admit to loving how it gets dark so early this time of year.  but even inside a diehard winter fan like myself there resides a small spark of desire for the return of the light and warmth of the sun.

the cloth is texas sun by rainy kimbrough (rav link) and will be part of a solstice gift for some dear friends.
