earlier this winter, whilst reading at night before bed, i realized that my hands and wrists were always freezing cold. i promised myself that as soon as the christmas sweatshop was closed i would make myself a pair of fingerless gloves to keep on my bedside table, to wear at night while i read before bed.
the pattern is the sleekit mitts (rav link) and it was my second try at finding a pattern that would work *with* with the yarn, and i couldn't be happier with the results.
the yarn, which is sock yarn from hello yarn, has been in my stash for ages (honestly i think i bought it before we moved to mankato, which would mean i've had it for at least seven years!). i've been saving it because i loved it oh-so-much i wanted to find *the* perfect pattern to knit with it.
it makes me so happy when things come together so perfectly!

These are absolutely gorgeous! I have half a pair done (a different pattern).... It's been sitting around for close to a year now waiting for me to find my motivation. Maybe now is the time!

I love them! I especially love how snug they are, the pages won't get caught on the yarn.

I'm kicking myself that I never thought to do this. Our bedroom is freezing (no heat so stays about mid-40's in the winter) and I don't read as much as I want because my hands get so cold. Thank you for this slap on the head! Okay, enough about me. I think you found a perfect merging of yarn and pattern...they are beautiful! And you know how happy I am to see you make a project for yourself!

These look great! I love the edging on the cuff. We don't keep our bedroom very hot either, so perhaps I need to knit myself a pair too!

What pretty yarn You're right, it's just perfect for the pattern. Great idea to keep 'book holding' hands warm. Have a happy week! Ros
