here's a random smattering of lovely things from my weekend:
a sunday morning three-way video skype sandwich meetup! turns out there's no better way to start your day.
i reached a point where lily could actually try on her birthday sweater and (big sigh of relief) it will fit! there was considerable worry as i just cast on for this project without checking my gauge... and when i did check (maybe 8-10" into the body) my gauge was off. eep! luckily i had cast on for one size too big, so it all worked out in the end! (but i think it helps that my daughter is skinny as a bean pole.)
i noticed the other day that (gasp of horror) a lot of my dishcloths have holes in them and are falling apart. we certainly can't have that! so i immediately reinstated the "knit dishcloths while you wait for lily" policy and now have this lovely playful plaid (rav link) cloth to show for it.
my niece received her owl hat! all signs point to: "she likes it!"

It's comforting to know, I'm not the only one to cast on w/o checking my gauge -- at least you do at some point. You're such a good knitter, I'm totally surprised. Enjoy your blog. I can't wait to see how the sweater turns out.

It's exciting to see that the hat is well-loved! That's one of my favorite parts of gifting projects. And I'm so glad the sweater is going to work out!! At least you'll know how your gauge is affected so you can adjust the sleeves if you need to! Now I'm off to check out that dishcloth pattern...

I see I'm not the only one who wears a hat to bed sometimes...although none of mine are near as cool as that owl hat! You'd think stripes would widen Lily up a little but you are right...she's a beanpole! Glad the sweater fits (I had a 'didn't check my gauge' fiasco last month and it didn't turn out like yours!). And I love that picture with your new dishcloth!
