reading: unfortunately i only learned of scottish author iain m. banks when i read about his dying of cancer june 9th on the facebook feeds of many friends whose opinions on books i hold in high regard. i immediately looked him up and got my hands on the first book in his culture series, consider phlebas.
i fully feel like kicking myself for not knowing about these books earlier but am so glad to have learned of them at all. i'm 3/4 of the way through the book and have already said to myself a number of times how glad i am that there are more books in this series as i have come to the conclusion that mr. banks was indeed a genius.
crocheting: yes, that's *another* crochet blanket you see before you! i told you i just can't stop right now... i plan to continue to crochet until i am sated... and who knows when that will be! it's time to ripple and ripple and ripple away!
the pattern is from another genius, lucy of attic24 - it's her neat ripple, and every time i make one i fall in love with ripples over and over again... love!
i am happily, finally, to the very last round of my granny garden blanket for bundles of joy! i couldn't decide which edging i wanted to use, so i crocheted a few repeats of the scallop edging and a few repeats of the picot edging and then asked lily which one she liked best.
she voted scallops, i was leaning towards picot... then she had the clever idea of combining them...
i have dubbed it "lily's edging" and think it's genius!
