I can hardly believe it myself, but I have FINALLY finished the hexagon blankie! I started this blanket almost three years ago, when I was pregnant with Mateo. It was (ahem) meant to be his baby blanket. Obviously that didn't happen, but when I found out that we were expecting again, I finally got the motivation I needed to finish it up!
I used primarily sock yarn scraps I had left over from the rainbow blankie I knit during my first pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage. The sharing of that yarn felt extra special to me, and now all the more meaningful that yet another baby gets to share in that connection.
Baby brother (who Mateo has named Cincinnati) is due to arrive in May so luckily I still finished soon enough for Mateo to have a little time to enjoy it before it gets passed on.
What I could never have expected was that, despite the fact that it took me almost three years to finish this one, once I did I immediately was ravenous for the next big crochet project. More on that in the next post...
Do you have projects that you've been working on for years?
