i'm sure we all have our little crafting quirks, things that bug no one but ourselves, certain things that have to be done *just so.* personally, i can not knit things randomly. even things that appear random have a lot of thought and planning in them. (one time i tried to make an honestly random ripple afghan and i cracked halfway through and had to start picking the colors by hand.) when i started kaia's blanket i wanted the hexies to be "random" but not so random that say two outer circles of the same color are next to each other... that sort of thing. i also didn't want to repeat any color combinations.
i'm about at the half way point and it was getting hard to go back and check and make sure i wasn't repeating myself.
after catching a repeat as i was attaching it to the blanket i decided a chart was needed to keep things organized and easier to find.
so i made up this somewhat neurotic chart. as i was crossing off the combos i'd already used i found, to my complete and utter horror, that i had another repeat embedded in the blanket!
*shudder!* i can barely stand to look at it even now!
there was nothing to be done but to get rid of the offending hexie... and fast!
i felt so much better at this point, i can not even tell you... after consulting The Chart i quick crocheted up a non-offensive hexie to pop into the hole.
there now. doesn't that look better? now we can all breathe a sigh of relief and go on with our crafting without twitching every time we look at my blanket. phew.
