we just spent a wonderful long weekend in ely, mn. this was our first time visiting ely and the impetus for the trip was that ely is home to the international wolf center and lily loves wolves.
we went there our very first day in town and lily absolutely loved it. (actually i may need to amend my previous statement, not only does lily love wolves, she is completely obsessed with them.) here she is bringing down a deer with a well-aimed bite to the throat.
turns out ely is also home to the north american bear center, which we quite enjoyed visiting as well.
when not hanging out with large carnivores we spent some time exploring the town of ely,
and its surrounding countryside.
it was the perfect start to summer, the perfect mix of fun and relaxing, and the perfect getaway with my two favorite people.

wolves and bears and perfect scenery-- seems like the absolute ideal trip! i love the pictures! so wonderful to live vicariously through them!

Looks like a fabulous vacation...such a beautiful place! You know I love the pic of the wolf...but we got to work on Lily thinking taking down the deer is so exciting! ;)

i love Lily's wolf impression picture, but the picture of Brian and Lily at the end is my very favorite.
