with it being summertime the tree in my front yard is obviously covered in leaves. this is nice for shading my house from the afternoon sun, but it makes it hard to keep tabs on the birds coming to the tree to feed.

the tapsalots are still coming quite reguarly, it's just hard to see them when they do and almost nearly impossible to get a picture of them! i did manage a few mediocre shots the other day, not my best photographic work, but i was just thrilled to be able to see them again!

i've even caught a glimpse or two of mr. bingley, although i wasn't able to capture him on film. even though i can't alway see them it is comforting to know that my woodpecker friends are still coming around to visit.

It's good to hear that they are still paying you visits. Is there any eveidence of holes in the tree trunks or are they merely coming to you for munchies?

that's sweet!
just the other late afternoon i was spinning in the living room and i noticed a red-headed woodpecker on top of the utility pole outside the window. he kept flying back and forth between that and the tree in our front yard (why do i type "yarn" instead of "yard" every time? hmmmm...). then the next night, there were two there and it seems that the top of the pole isn't flat. maybe they worked their woodpecker magic to hollow it out a bit?
must keep watch for new developments...

I love that they're still visiting your front tree.
(and thank goodness for shade trees/free air conditioning in the summer time!)

Cool that they are still hanging around...that surprised me although I freely admit I know nothing of the migratory (or not) patterns of woodpeckers!
