joining up with ginny at small things for this week's yarn along:
reading: i've started a new book! and i'm so so so so excited about it i can not even begin to tell you! i have been in love with hildegard von bingen for practically ever... we sang a number of her compositions in women's chorus in college, her life story is so amazing... i just get all goo goo eyed when i talk about her!
when i saw that there was a novel of her life i didn't even think twice, i just bought it! i'm only one chapter in, but so far illuminations by mary sharratt gets my full thumbs up. simply for its subject matter. all i want to do today is put in my favorite hildegard cd (11,00 virgins by anonymous4), sit by the fire, and read all day long!
knitting: i'm back to the pair of hedgerow mitts (pattern rav link) i began making for my friend last winter to keep her hands warm in her cold office. when it became clear that i wasn't going to finish them before the weather warmed up i just set them aside until fall. well fall is here, so it is time to finish the mitts before the cold weather really sets in!
tell me friends, what are you reading and working on at the moment?
-melissa
I continue to slog away on my angst lotus tank and I'm reading Living Water. I find myself saying, "yes, yes, yes!" while reading it. Your fireside pictures makes me so jealous and wistful!

I just completed Fall of Giants by Ken Follett, about the rise of the Third Reich, and then went and purchased the next in his trilogy called Winter of the World. Had I known FofG was going to be so intense and difficult for me to keep up with, I'm stalling on starting this next one. I'm thinking I need something a little lighter right now.
I'm working on the Ditto cardigan by Berroco Design Team, so far, so good. Really need to get started on a pair of fingerless mitts my sister requested for her birthday in November.
Loved your fireside picture...looks so cozy and inviting!!!

Does a lit fire mean that it's chilly in your neck of the woods? It looks so inviting and cosy. I am currently reading some no brainer chick-lit - all I can concentrate on right now. I have a couple of books ready and waiting for my next school holiday. My knitting has been in a bit of a slump for the last couple of weeks, school has taken over a bit. I have a mountain of gift knitting and might have bitten off a bit more than I can chew!
