Seeing Stars

My friend Lainey is a science buff.  She and her husband decided to decorate their son Robi's nursery with a space theme (Houston being one of the homes of NASA and all that). 

I was thrilled to get in on that theme with a quilt.

And some black holes for the back?

Ok, maybe not black holes -but it is never too early for a little color theory.

I think this sweet boy approves.

Orangie Porangie

My first professionally quilted quilt!

And I'm keeping it!

When Sabrina and I dropped it off, Jane (of thingsbyjane.com) asked for the name of the quilt.  My mind went blank.  I love orange especially with blue but I couldn't think of a single name.  Sabrina blurted out 'Orangie Porangie' and it stuck.  

With the color block design I knew I wanted it quilted in a boxy angular way.  But I never expected the fabulous additions.  

I especially love this pebble design.

I think we will be snuggling under this quilt for years to come.

I Spy a Rainbow

Ever since I saw the I Spy quilt Melina made I've wanted to make one for Sabrina. Further inspiration came from Melissa and Claire's rainbow blankets.

I've had so much fun hunting down patterned fabrics of in all the colors of the rainbow. I used red pepper quilts' no bind method again.

It works so well when you actually follow the instructions.

Not too bad for quilt #2.

I especially love the fabrics on the back.

We started some geography lessons - mostly where Daddy was born and where Claire lives.

I love playing I spy with Sabrina, especially since she always asks for more things to look for.
